Contemporary Coastal Comfort
Building square footage sources.
This large 9,000 square foot lot includes a good distance from the street to the house and plenty of room in the backyard. The backyard has a garden shed, which was also used as a workshop, completed with quality materials in 2003.
The two-story home shows all living on one side and the bedrooms on the other side, all on the same level. The lower level has a separate room that was once an office and then a media room. An office on the main level was added in 2019, allowing for this lower level "office" to be a family room, media room, or an office, if the main level office is needed for a bedroom.
The rec room was the original garage. There is an access door to the backyard from this room, and an updated half bathroom on this lower level.
NOTE: The exceptional art piece on the greatroom wall was created and installed by Robert Buelteman (https://www.buelteman.com/). Rob is a nationally acclaimed artist with global collectors. Rob and his family are long time Montara residents and graciously provided a stunning piece to be placed in this equally stunning home for a unique and creative visual presentation. Please contact the agent if interested in purchase.
This home completed a major design and construction remodel in 2018. Dear Future Owner,
Montara is a charming "village" about 10 miles north of Half Moon Bay, yet part of the Coastside community. This friendly community includes Montara, Moss Beach, El Granada and Half Moon Bay, partly because these towns are incorporated into the local Cabrillo Unified School District.
Located 6 minutes north of the picturesque and popular Princeton Harbor, you’ll find Montara State Beach. Montara Mountain is part of Montara State Beach, and is the only undisturbed coastal mountain habitat found for over 100 miles of the coastline. Montara State Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches along the Northern California coast due to its soft sand and cleanliness. Locals and visitors enjoy this beach to surf, or take soulful walks on this long stretch of soft sand.
Montara streets are eclectic. You may see a new construction home next to a mid-century cottage and everything inbetween. There are still some vacant lots, but not many. Some homes have wells and the rest get water from local utility, Montara Water & Sanitary District (https://mwsd.montara.org/).
Since Montara is at the base of Montara Mountain, you will see people walking or biking around the neighborhood, or on their way to the trails. One nearby pathway is from Farallone Ave going north. It will lead you directly to a trailhead about 11 short blocks north. Farallone Ave is a few steps away from this home! There are other paths you can take to other trailheads also. This natural beauty is something never to take for granted.
Since the post office in where residents pick up their mail, the neighborliness is high. It feels like a step back in time to know your neighbors and even those who work at the local post office.
There are no street lights, making the light polution less than some other towns, and perhaps helping some people to sleep more soundly...that might be a stretch, but doesn't it make sense?
Another reason for the friendliness is that many families attend the local Elementary School, Farallone View. This is school that the Seller's children attended, along with my own. While the school has changed in the last several years I'm sure, it is a quaint school surrounded by natural beauty. There used to be Alpacas across the street, not sure if they are still there. The playground has ocean and mountain views. We were spoiled and didn't even know it.
